I love casting on for new projects.....especially ones that turn out as cute as these did! One thing about knitting for Hannah Grace is that most projects knit up fast.....gotta love that!

I am still plugging along on my shawl and I needed to get going on some favs I have picked out for the baby for this fall......sweaters.....dresses.....hats and leggings! I am also trying to use up stash yarn and not buy any more....(I'll let you know how that goes)



So I cast on this free pattern...anouk as a dress and it turned out adorable! I added the little knitted hearts and just did some free hand stitching to sew them on. The pictures are not that great.....it is pouring rain here today and so dark....I will have to get better ones another time. And it fits her great! So happy with this quick and cute project!


I also cast on for these sweet leg warmers.....I think she will want these in every color! Another free pattern and so easy! We are calling these her crazy legs! Ravelry notes here. I should finish up the other one today!

I'm not reading but listening on my iphone to At knits End....just started but am enjoying it so far! I have never read any of her books but so many of you have recommended them that I thought I'd give it a try.

Joining Ginny over at Small Things for this weeks Yarn Along! Next week I'm on vacation down in the Outer Banks....looking forward to knitting on the beach!! Not sure if I will post from there or not!

Can this really be the last Yarn Along of August? The past week we have had some cooler days and even cooler nights and I must say that I will miss summer but am so ready for fall! With that in mind I am looking forward to knitting up some new warm woolens for all of us!




This little poncho came together rather quickly after I finally found the right pattern! So easy and it called for fringe but I decided to add this seed stitch ruffle and then I carried the seed stitch around the hat edge as well. I am really happy with how it turned out and I think Hannah Grace will got a lot of wear out of this!

And my yarn arrived so I can finally finish my Rockefeller mystery shawl! Can't wait to get this off the needles and blocked!

We have dived back in to homeschooling this week and so my reading has been limited to children's books and lesson plans.....it's been a good week so far and we are establishing a new rhythm.

I'm still plugging away on the Rockefeller mystery shawl. I finished clue 3 yesterday and now am waiting for clue 4 to be revealed on Friday. This has been a lot of fun and I can not wait to see where this 4th and final clue takes this shawl! Next week I should have a finished shawl to show you! This weeks clue ended in an icord bind off....something I never did before......but I really love the clean finish it gives and I know I will use it again! Ravelry notes





In between the clues for the shawl I cast on for a poncho for Hannah Grace. I have been wanting to make her one for the upcoming fall and have been searching the patterns on Ravelry but nothing really caught my eye. I decided to use this pattern for the Poppy Poncho as my starting point and I am making some changes along the way......I had originally started using this yarn for a blanket but decided it would make a great poncho! It's soft and squishy and will be warm on brisk fall days! I am done with the yoke and have started the cape part in stockinette......easy knitting for sitting poolside! Ravelry notes

My knitting has gotten adventuresome these past 2 weeks......I just have not had the time to post much! I decided to join in on the West Knits Mystery Shawl knit Along on ravelry, never did a mystery knit along before but I am really having fun with it! My oldest daughter Emily joined the fun too! I only have 3 more rows to be done with clue 2 and there are 2 more clues to go. I am enjoying the knitting process, learning some new techniques along the way and loving my yarn choice! I am using Cascade Yarns Heritage series.....It is beginning to look interesting and I can't wait to see what the next clues are! The community on the message board is so friendly and helpful, a great group to hang with! What do you think of it??? Interesting right? I am thinking that this is probably not a shawl I would have picked to knit, normally I like my lacey and vintage looking shawls, but I am liking it because it is so different and not my normal style! Last week I finally finished Hannah Grace's Nellie Sweater......I love it! A perfect light weight sweater for the beginning of fall! And that Louisa Harding Yarn was a great choice for a vintage sweater......


I also finally got the pearl beads on Emily's mitts. She arrived home from Thailand safe and sound and these are the mitts I made for her as I prayed for her during that missions trip. I saw the pattern and they are soooo her......she is thrilled with them and totally agrees!







On the reading side of things I am knee deep in new homeschool books......trying to get organized for the upcoming school year.....reading teachers guides and excerpts from the kids reading books.....not very exciting for you but very for me and the kids!

Ran a 5k with Elaina and Christopher this past Sat. It was Christopher's first and he did great! Blew his Mom away of course! It was hot and I was regretting it from the start but in the end so glad I pushed myself to do it! I got first in my age group!!

God is so patient with me and for that I am forever thankful and grateful! I am working on my priorities and getting them in order.....they have been a little out of wack lately. I need to keep God on the throne of this life if any of this is going to work right!

Well the past few weeks I have not made it here to post my day book.......summer is in full swing and I must say we are just too busy enjoying these days! Filled with swimming......sun and the whirring of the air conditioners as we battle the heat! I also started going to a bible study on Monday mornings and we have to be out of the house by 9am.......it's all good!! So i think I might do an abbreviated daybook on Mondays if I get a chance but if not I am not going to beat myself up about it!!

Stop the clock........this one is getting big way to fast!! She struts around here with her hands on her hips looking oh so cute.....she is babbling all the time now and Daddy is ready to kick her out of bed......she likes to push him to the edge during the night....how can such a little person take up so much room in the bed?
